Dale Carnegie, "If you want to be a good conversationalist, be a good listener. To be interesting. be interested." I love that quote. 

People go, "I want to become a better conversationalist. So, what do I need to say?" Not much at all. You do need to ask questions. Absolutely. And that's active listening, and then they'll know that you're present and engaged. But let the other person talk. 
So, listen. Be interested. Like, genuinely be interested. And if you're not, then don't pretend to be and then be like, "Ahh" and then you drag on. Just find a way to exit the conversation. And that's it. Right?
